EasyWakeup Reviews

Reviewer from www.iphoneappsfinder.com about 2.5.1 [AppStore]:

I must confess. I love killing two birds with one stone. It’s true that iPhone addresses multiple needs, but one of the best ways to get more out of your iPhone is by using it to manage your sleep times. You can always use an alarm clock iPhone application to help you get up for work, but what’s the fun in that? Absalt EasyWakeup is no ordinary alarm clock. It’s an innovative application that wakes you up at the right time depending on your sleep cycle. You’d be surprised how it can change your day by doing just that.

In order to get the best out of EasyWakeUp, you need to define an interval in which you want to get woken up. The application helps you find the opportune time for awaking. You can even set up multiple alarms just in case. If you are using this app on an iPhone, you can use a microphone to record an alarm for this app. And if you are interested, you can send your sleep data to your e-mail.

Overall, I was very impressed with Absalt EasyWakeUp. You can always go and pay $350 for a sleep phase clock, or you can get EasyWakeUp. EasyWakeUp is not only affordable but highly capable. Once you try it, you are going to wonder how you have gone without it.

Verdict: A

I've been thinking about getting one of those watches, so I figured it was worth $10 to give this a shot. Too early to tell a whole lot, but here's how it went last night:
I used a cut sock around my forearm to hold the iPhone. Actually not uncomfortable at all, which surprised me. It does seem like a ridiculous habit, but we'll see.
No problems with accidentally pressing the Home button in my sleep. I can't see any way I'd really damage the phone either.
It burned about 50% of my battery during 8 hours. Airplane mode on, brightness all the way down, first gen iPhone 16 months old.
It was set to wake me up between 6:30 and 7:00. It went off at 6:31. It did feel like the "right" time to wake up. I didn't have to force myself to get out of bed and I wasn't too tempted to hit snooze.

Wow, you and I did the exact same thing, haha!
The cut sock worked great, and after a few minutes I completely forgot the phone was there. I sleep on my belly, so the phone and my hand was under the pillow.
I set my regular alarm clock for 7:45 and set this program to wake me anytime between 7 and 7:30... it woke me up around 7:20, but the weirdest part was how it feels to be woke up like that. I guess I started to move half awake and BAM the phone starts quietly playing the wake up noise. It was almost the sensation of being woke up in the middle of a dream - really refreshing. No sleepyness.
I had just downloaded the freebie of Cydia, but I think if I have another good week of mornings like this I'll definitely be swinging for the full version.
With my 3G in Airplane mode & wifi off & screen dimmed all the way, my battery was only about 30% gone in the morning. I plugged it in while I was in the shower and it was full again by the time I was ready to go to work.
Worth a try, especially those of you with jailbroken phones!!

Hey, just posting a quick review of the latest version of EasyWakeup full (at time of writing), version 2.4.8.1. This version fixes an important some touch users had with the graphs and slightly improves the UI. Now, I'm using the Full version available from Cydia (see more info at easywakeup.net).
EasyWakeup is basically a program that uses the accelerometer on an iPod touch or an iPhone to wake you up at the perfect time so that you feel refreshed and ready to start the day, instead of groggy and half-awake (or so they say). You attach your device to your wrist (using a wristband or an old sock, etc), set the alarm for any interval in which you want to be woken up (a 30 minute interval usually does the trick), lock your device, and go to sleep. What the program claims to do is keep track of the movements of the accelerometer (and therefore your wrist). The more you move, the lighter your sleep is said to be. So, when you are moving a lot, the program will blare an alarm that wakes you up without taking you out of a deep phase of sleep.
Anyway, on to the actual review. First of all, keeping in mind that the developer doesn't natively speak English, the translation is quite good. It's available in like 10 different languages as well. I liked the UI quite a lot as it's fuctional and easy to use. However, the screen you are presented with after activating an alarm seemed a bit simple to look professional - it's a black screen with a white font even more basic than this font, and it lists all the settings you have set...functional, but it could look a bit more polished.
After setting the program to wake me up between 9:15 and 9:45 AM - I'm usually more of an 11:00 person :/ - I went to sleep at about 11:30 PM, having attached my touch to my wrist with an armband and locked it. The next morning, surprisingly enough, I woke up to the sound of my touch's speaker blaring an alarm at me! Sure enough, it was 9:34 AM, and I didn't feel sleepy at all, even though I had slept almost 1 and a half hours less than I usually do on weekends. I tried it again that night and woke up on Sunday at 9:27, feeling the same way. I can attest that this program works pretty great, and aside from some polishing up UI-wise, this is a really useful little app. It also displays graphs that show how much you were moving throughout the night, which is kind of useful in itself for studying your sleeping patterns. Again, if you want to try it out, you can grab a free version on Cydia (but it doesn't support locking the device, so have it fully charged or leave it plugged in to keep it from shutting off) or learn more at easywakeup.net.

jeremytodd1 from board.ign.com about 2.4.8:
What does every person in this world have in common? We all love to sleep, and we all hate to wake up. This program is here to help us all out by helping us wake up. Most alarm clocks wake you up in a very sudden (and often frightening) way, but EasyWakeUp wakes you up in a gentle way. It does this by sensing when you are in a lighter sleep, because if you are in a deeper sleep it'll be harder to wake up (which is exactly what a normal alarm clock does).
How does it sense when you are in a lighter sleep, you ask? It does it in a simple way: you just attach the iphone/ipod to your wrist, bicep, leg, or just even put it away in a pocket and turn this useful application on. By using the built in accelerometer, this program tells when you are tossing and turning, and when it's calculations find out that you are in a lighter sleep (by the amount of you moving), it'll have the alarm sound. And yeah, keeping the device attached to you while you sleep can be a bit bothersome, but after a few minutes you'll forget that the device is even on you.
My week-long experience of trying out EasyWakeUp was a very satisfying trial. The first morning I found that I did, in fact, wake up a lot easier than normal, and wondered if it's just a placebo effect. The next few days helped determine that it wasn't a mind-trick, it was, indeed, EasyWakeUp helping me wake up a whole lot easier. I was very happy with the results that this program was showing me. I even noticed that I did better on a test I had on a day where I used EasyWakeUp than on a day where I didn't use EasyWakeUp. I feel that it was definitely because I was more awake than I normally am.
One thing that I really like is that you can choose what ringtone you want as your alarm. My personal favorite is the guitar strumming. It's a very gentle "waking up" alarm.
Another great feature is that it keeps track of your sleep patterns. I'm sure you all have wondered how much you move in your sleep, and EasyWakeUp will help answer that question. It even makes very handy graphs of all your movements and exactly what time you moved at.
There are two ways to get EasyWakeUp. You can either just simply buy it in the AppStore ($9.99), or on Cydia (jailbreak needed). There are a couple different "levels" of EasyWakeUp (a free one and a paid one), and if you go to this link: ( http://easywakeup.net/en/content/differences-between-easywakeup-apps ) you can decide which version of the application is best for you.
EasyWakeUp call does have a couple minor problems though, but it's not because of lousy coding or lazy developing; it's because of the restrictions that Apple puts on applications. The only minor problem that could actually be a problem to someone is if you haven't jailbroken your device, you're only choice of this application is from the AppStore. Since Apple doesn't allow you to run apps in the background, you'll have to leave the device's screen on all night. Yes, this does waste a bit of battery, but as long as you turn the brightness way down and turn off wifi, this wont be that much of a problem.
If you buy this application (or even just use the free version), I assure you that you wont feel like you wasted your money. If this helps make every single day of yours better, why wouldn't you like it? This is a must have app for anyone who just likes to have a good day.
I'll gladly give this application a 9.6/10, as now I can wake up so much easier and that makes my day much nicer

boz from hackint0sh.org about version 1.3.1

boz from hackint0sh.org about version 1.3.1:
I always had troubles waking up, always feeling miserable when getting up and running out of bed, much like a steamtrain trying to make it's way out of the station, exhausting clouds of grey smoke. So I gave Easywakeup a try, I was sceptical at first, but all that changed, read on to know why.
Me about Easywakeup;
The first issue I had was how to attach the iPhone to my wrist, as I do not own a sportscover, if you have one, it solves the search for an ideal method.
You do not want your iphone detaching from your wrist, else all your troubles were for nothing, but also you do not want your precious iPhone to get scratches while you are 'wearing' it in bed so a sportscover would be ideal.
But I used an old wristband and some rope, you can use a lot of different designs, as long as your iphone stays at your wrist and turn the screen to your skin.
Does it need to be on your wrist I hear you asking? Yes, because in your lightest sleepphase your hands are moving more than your biceps are.
When i went to bed with my iPhone taped to my wrist I couln't resist thinking; Steve Jobs would be smiling from ear to ear when he saw me like this, he'd say; "The iPhone is the ideal companion, it's there all day, and from now on, it's there right by you when you wake up."
Also my girlfriend made fun of me when i wore my iPhone on my wrist in bed...
The first night I made a mistake by putting my iPhone on silent, it still vibrates when the alarm activates but I just plain ignored it and slept on.
The following night I thought about everything, activating airplanemode, reducing brightness, autolock to never, deactivated silentmode, started easywakeup and went to sleep.
It woke me at 8:57 when my timewindow was between 8:45 and 9:15, i tried to go back to sleep but felt no urge to stay in bed.
As I normally wake at 10:30 and still feel tired this is a huge improvement for me.
Although the iPhone is not known as a sleepphase detector, it does the trick quite well with this app.
It's easy to use, intuitive and a great improvement over the stock alarm app. It's not all perfect though;
What I think needs to be improved
1. Really need to be able to lock the iphone, my battery is totally drained (15% left) when I wake up, nighttime is when I usually charge. Checking out Insomnia for iPhone, trying it myself, will update this post when I know more.
2. Silentmode; the stock alarm app ignores the silentswitch and just blasts the music in your ears to get you out of bed and grumble some more, so an adjustment or a warning concerning the silentswitch would be welcome.
3. Using your own custom ringtones, at the moment you can only use the standard ringtones, not too bad, but i love to wake up with September by Earth, Wind and Fire.
This app could be an Appstore app as it is now, it is not conflicting with the rules. When locked mode is achieved it will be against the rules, but as of now it is still eligable for the Appstore, although it eats batterypower.

It's quite ok to use, I had 3 good wake ups in a row now while using it for just 3 days

dnewayz from iphones.co.il about 1.4 version

dnewayz from iphones.co.il about 1.4 version: now in english:
As I promised, here's a review on a cydia app called EasyWakeup, version 1.4:283M
Let's start with what I did like... For starters, it just work!!! I just had one of the most refreshed weeks I had in my life.
one more thing I really loved about this app is that it's super easy to use... if you know to set up a regular alarm clock on the iPhone, you can use this app at about the same ease of use. all you need to do is select the time margin you wish to wake up in and the app finds the best minute in that margin to wake you up in so you'll be most refreshed.
And like with everything else, I think that there is room for a few improvements.
the main one of which is the fact that right now the device has to be turned on and unlocked for the app to work. if the iPhone is locked the app turns into a regular alarm clock, which wakes you up in the latest possible minute according to the time margin you set up. for example, if the margin you set up is between 06:30 and 07:00, the iPhone will wake you up on 07:00.
one more improvement I believe should be, is to find a different way to get the app to work other than strapping the iPhone to your hand. the only reason I'm saying this is because I usually charge the iPhone while I sleep, and it's kinda messy with the charging cable.
in conclusion, this app made me change my charging routine, which I thought will be just for a week, so I can test this app out, but now I think that a week of using this app made me realize that I can wake up without yawning. so I think I have a new iPhone charging routine

Daniel Burkholder from installerapps.com about 1.3.1 version

Daniel Burkholder from installerapps.com about 1.3.1 version: First iPhone application which can help to awake easier. It detects your sleep phase through internet accelerometer and awakes you at the best time.
EasyWakeup is supposed to be an alternative to the ‘watches’ that help to wake you up gradually and detect when your in a light phase of sleep to do so. Set the time you want to be awakened, alarm tone, a personal message if you like, and then you attach it to your arm as you go to bed. As of right now you need to put your phone into airplane mode and the brightness on low, the screen will be on the entire night.
I had personally strapped it to my arm using a thin cloth, and to be safe, placed a pillow under that arm to prevent any potential ‘damage’. Well next morning, lo’ and behold, it had successfully woken me from my slumber. I definitely like this app, except for lack of the ability to lock the phone. Thankfully I had enough time to charge it back to full before I had to leave but not everyone does. My ~5 hour sleep took about 20% of the battery. EasyWakeup isn’t free, the developers ask for a donation to receive an activation key, but what you could donate is minimal compared to buying devices specifically for waking you, upward $200! Go out and try EasyWakeup, just try not to sleep on your phone! [Source - BigBoss] Cydia

mrbarker from modmyi.com about 1.2-1.3.1 version

mrbarker from modmyi.com about 1.2-1.3.1 version: Night 1 Having the iphone strapped to my hand was a bit akward. I went to bed about 11pm and set the alarm for 8am. I forgot to turn on airplane mode so my battery was about dead when I woke up. The alarm went off at 7:39am. I didnt feel it being as difficult to wake up as it is normally. Im going to try a different hour of going to bed tonight
Days 2 and 3
Day 2 - I went to bed a little earlier then the first night. The alarm was set for 7:30-8am. It went off right about 7:30am. I didnt feel my normal need to hit the snooze button 9 times. It was not really an issue to get out of bed after the first alarm, so I made the short walk to start my coffee pot. So far this program seems to be offering a benefit.
Mid day.. I checked Cydia for any updates and this program had a newer version. I upgraded. Didnt notice anything different on the software side.
Day 3 - I changed the alarm from a ringtone to the vibrate feature. I stayed up a couple hours later then normal, mostly just to get caught up on some tv. I awoke to a vibrating phone this morning a few minutes before 8am. This seemed to me the best option for this program.
Id like to see them get it to work while the screen is locked to preserve battery life and be able to use it some other way then strapping to my hand.
All in all, im glad I tried the demo. Its a useful program, but could be a lot better with minor improvements. As long as the demo works, i'll probably keep using it however. maybe I can leave it on my stomach or chest all night?

iamtheone from tysiphonehelp.com about 1.3.1

iamtheone from tysiphonehelp.com about 1.3.1 version:3 things i liked:
it did what it said it would
low in size
internal alarm
3 things that could be improved:
add a working lock feature (won't work when put your device in sleep/lock)
add a settings enable/disable feature (so you don't have to go to settings and put them one by one)
more alarms!
I really thought the app was great. It did exactly what it said: help you wake up easier. It doesn't help make you sleep less, if that's what your thinking. It just helps pick the best time to wake you up.
